The Fowler College of Business would like to thank Theo and Carmen for their years of dedicated service. Theo has been described by his academic peers with an abundance of praise. His teaching was exemplary, and his work was conducted with the utmost diligence. He often took on extra teaching loads and thesis supervisions to help out both the college and his students. His gentle demeanor, collegiality, and clear thinking will be missed.
FCB Assistant Professor, Valerie Alexandra shares Theo’s impact both as a mentor and a colleague: “Theo Addo is one of my giants! He has an incredible ability to see the best in students and help students bring their best out to the world. I was fortunate to take a class with Professor Addo in my early undergraduate days at SDSU. He has given me an opportunity to see further and dream bigger. His trust and support helped me believe in myself and my abilities. Today, as a faculty member at SDSU, I aspire to share with my students what Professor Addo has graciously been sharing with me: inspiration, goodwill, appreciation, optimism, and so much more. I am incredibly grateful for Professor Addo’s mentorship and friendship!”
Carmen successfully held numerous roles within the Fowler College of Business. From serving as the Director of the Family Business Forum to helping the Dean fundraise, she continually worked to advance our college both as SDSU and within the community.
Director of the Center for Advancing Global Business, Mark Ballam shares, “I’ve known Carmen my entire time at SDSU. In fact, during my first few weeks, (when I didn’t even have a home yet. I was still living in a hotel.) Carmen invited me to dinner at her home with other colleagues from the College. Since that time, we’ve built an enduring bond of friendship. Carmen comes from a background in business and she’s had a stellar career as a consultant to family businesses for nearly 30 years. She speaks six languages. Students consistently gave her class rave reviews because of Carmen’s real-world experience. Students also appreciated the way that she connected with each of them, and I know for a fact that many of her students continue to stay in touch with her still to this day. So, on behalf of the Fowler College, we’d like to say, “thank you”, and “congratulations” on your well-deserved retirement. We send you on your way to your next adventure with heartfelt gratitude and deep appreciation. Congratulations, Carmen.”
