Carlos Cristiani and Jessica Grounds

Graduate business students in the Executives in Residence (EIR) program kicked off the spring semester by working through case studies that examined how to build professional influence through personal and social responsibility. They were joined by executive guest Carlos Cristiani of the Fleet Science Center who, alongside cohort leaders Jessica Grounds and Scott Drury, challenged the students to think bigger about the important role that corporations play in shaping their local communities.

Executive guests from PwC and SDG&E shared "nuts & bolts" advice with EIR Fowler program students for navigating their early careers, setting themselves onto an executive pathway. Topics included: "How to read the pulse of an organization," "How to establish your leadership brand and a place within your team," and "How to advocate for yourself." Following two insightful fireside chats, students participated in group coaching sessions with our distinguished executives in residence.

Fowler EIR program students gained insights into the role of an Independent Board Director from three inspiring C-level trailblazers, each with a unique path to corporate success. The panel covered topics from thinking and communicating like an executive, to the importance of networking, and overcoming imposter syndrome. Afterwards, students had the chance to ask additional questions one-on-one during executive office hours.
