Paula Peter, professor of marketing and interim associate dean for research and strategic initiatives at San Diego State University’s Fowler College of Business has been named the college’s 2026 recipient of the Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Faculty Contributor.
One of SDSU’s most prestigious faculty honors, the award is presented annually to one faculty member from each of the university’s seven academic colleges. Peter was recognized during an awards ceremony held during SDSU’s All-University Convocation on August 20.
Peter’s nomination highlighted her commitment to preparing Fowler students for career success by helping them understand industry-relevant digital marketing tools and competencies. The nomination also added that “she has been directly involved in the activities of the marketing department at the Fowler College of Business including curriculum development and assessment, faculty recruiting, and mentoring.”
“Paula has been an exceptional mentor, and role model to students and faculty alike,” said Dan Moshavi, Thomas and Evelyn Page Dean of the Fowler College of Business. “She has consistently stepped up to assume leadership roles on key college committees and panels, while simultaneously producing impactful research and outstanding classroom engagement year-after-year. She recently took on the role of interim associate dean for research and strategic initiatives where she will continue to help enhance the faculty and student experience.”
After starting her academic career at SDSU in 2007, Peter has been the recipient of numerous honors at SDSU, including a Senate Excellence in Teaching nomination in 2019, a Teaching Excellence Award in 2017, an SDSU Faculty-in Residence Contribution Award in 2013, and a Student Affairs Staff Award in 2012.
