SMBA '26 at Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center
The Sports MBA Class of 2026 recently kicked off their first class trip with a visit to the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (CVEATC)—a world-class facility where Olympians, Paralympians, and elite athletic programs train to compete at the highest level.

The day began with a guided tour of the expansive complex, offering students an inside look at the high-performance training facilities CVEATC offers on their 155 acres. From training fields to housing, the tour gave students a look into the extent of support the center offers athletes.

Following the tour, the group was welcomed by Brian Melekian, President & COO of CVEATC, who shared an overview of the center’s vision, mission and values, operations, and its broader role within the global sports ecosystem.

Students also heard from Tyler Amorese, Director of Operations, and Trevor Higgins, Business Development Manager. Both offered a behind-the-scenes look at their respective roles, including the center’s growth strategies, operational challenges, and their efforts to continue growing the center. They also spoke about their professional journeys, emphasizing qualities such as perseverance, proactivity, and a strong work ethic as keys to success in the sports industry.

The class then learned from Keila Bosinger (SMBA '24), now a Business Development Associate, who offered a unique perspective on transitioning from the classroom to the professional world. She also introduced relevant projects that current students will support, offering them the opportunity to contribute directly to CVEATC.

A huge thank you to Brian, Tyler, Trevor, Keila, and the entire CVEATC team for their time, insight, and hospitality! This set the bar high for many more SMBA '26 class visits to come!
