Nine New Professors to Join the Fowler College of Business
The Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University will welcome nine new faculty members to start the 2025 – 26 academic year.

Zeyu Ou
Prior to joining SDSU’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy, assistant accounting professor Zeyu Ou earned her Ph.D. in accounting at the University of Miami, where she received an Outstanding Ph.D. Award in Research.
Ou’s research interests include financial accounting, regulation, private equity, and corporate governance. Starting this fall, Ou will teach three sections of Intermediate Accounting (ACCTG 331).

Xi Chen
Having recently completed her Ph.D. at the University of Houston, Xi Chen will join the Fowler College of Business as an assistant professor of finance. She will be teaching the Fundamentals of Finance (BA 323) and Financial Management (BA 674) during the fall semester of 2025.
Chen’s research interests include corporate innovation, entrepreneurial finance and product market competition.

Mingming Ao
Assistant professor of finance Mingming Ao joins SDSU after working two years in the banking industry, where she most recently served as a principal financial risk modeler at Pacific Premier Bank.
Ao earned her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, where she earned an Outstanding Research Award. Her areas of expertise include banking regulation, debt covenant, financial distress, and competition networks.

Chi Wan
Associate professor Chi Wan joins the Fowler College of Business as the Denis and Elain Szeto Endowed Professor of Finance. Previously, he was a faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he was a recipient of the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research on six separate occasions.
Wan earned his Ph.D. in economics from Boston College and his areas of expertise include corporate finance, investments, financial technology (fintech), and financial accounting.

Gianni De Bruyn
A recent Ph.D. graduate of the University of South Carolina, Gianni De Bruyn will begin his academic career at SDSU this fall as an assistant professor of management. Prior to his career in academia, De Bruyn worked in the financial industry and investor relations.
His research is focused on global business strategy and he will teach two sections of Strategic Management (MGT 405) this fall.

Mohsen Jozani
Mohsen Jozani comes to SDSU as an assistant professor of management information systems after teaching and conducting research for four years at Augusta University in Georgia. His areas of expertise include data analytics, AI network security, and database management.
Jozani earned his Ph.D. in information technology at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he won an Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award in 2021.

Nohel Zaman
New this year to the Fowler College of Business’ management information systems department, Nohel Zaman will teach two sections of Business Analytics (MIS 649) this fall. Before joining SDSU, he served on the faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Zaman earned his Ph.D. in business information technology at Virginia Tech, and his research interests include business analytics, text mining, safety concerns related to consumer products, and quality services.

Mahsa Paridar
Newly hired assistant professor of marketing, Mahsa Paridar, joins the Fowler College of Business after completing her Ph.D. program at UCLA. Prior to her career in academia, she co-founded a company that specialized in optimizing marketing messages through online and social media platforms.
Paridar’s research interests include quantitative marketing, online tipping and digital entrepreneurship. She will teach Marketing Analytics (MKTG 480) during the fall 2025 semester.
