Haddad, who serves as the chair of the finance department in the Fowler College of Business, earned the nomination for his “improving the quality of the finance curriculum, ongoing commitment to teaching excellence, helping faculty to attain their goals.” He has been named as the Most Influential Faculty Member to Fowler’s top finance student three times and as an outstanding faculty member by SDSU’s Mortar Board chapter in 2019.

“With over 40 years of service to San Diego State University, Kamal Haddad has been an inspiration and a mentor to faculty and students alike,” said George Belch, the former interim Thomas and Evelyn Page Dean of the Fowler College of Business. “Kamal has been a dedicated member of the faculty and served as chair of the Department of Finance for the past five years. He devotes an incredible amount of time and effort to teaching and research, as well as advancing his department and the Fowler College of Business. Kamal exemplifies the teacher/scholar model and is truly deserving of this award for his outstanding contributions to SDSU.”

Haddad began his academic career at SDSU in 1981 shortly after earning his Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.
