Former Padres SVP/CFO Will Teach at SDSU This Fall
The former senior vice president/CFO of the San Diego Padres and Fowler College of Business alumnae, Ronda Sedillo (’94, accountancy), will be returning to her alma mater to teach ACCTG-202 (Managerial Accounting Fundamentals) at the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy during the fall semester of 2021.
Sedillo is no stranger to teaching and mentoring the students of San Diego State University: she has been a guest lecturer for ECON 406 (Economics of Sports) as well as several classes in Fowler College’s Sports MBA program. She was also a featured panelist for the Women in Leadership Conference held February 27, 2020. Sedillo also serves on the Dean’s Board of Advisors for the Fowler College of Business.
Although Sedillo began her career in the field of accounting, she planned to switch gears as she began her slow transition out of the workforce. “I always wanted to end my working career as a teacher,” she said. “I had some really great professors while getting my degree and I thought it would be fun to go back to where it all started for me.”
In addition to her work as an SDSU accounting instructor, Sedillo will remain a consultant for the Padres through December 2021. She will also continue to encourage SDSU accounting students to explore non-traditional career options. “I really enjoy talking with and mentoring students and encouraging them to pursue their education in the field of accounting,” said Sedillo. “I like sharing my experiences with them to show that accounting isn’t just ‘bean counting’ and that there are some really fun and interesting jobs in the field.”
