Women in Business Selected As Adobe Student Ambassadors
Women in Business Supports Students As Adobe Ambassadors
Women in Business (WIB), a Fowler College of Business student organization, was selected to represent San Diego State University (SDSU) as Adobe Student Ambassadors for the Spring 2020 semester.
In its first year, Women in Business, who was officially recognized at SDSU on June 12th, 2019, hosted several events and workshops for SDSU students aimed at helping to prepare them for success in the business world. These events consisted of workshops, alumni panels, group discussions and more.
In the fall of 2019, WIB held an exclusive workshop in partnership with Google for their members and the SDSU community and earlier this year, they supported the execution of SDSU’s Fowler College of Business 4th Annual Women in Entrepreneurship and Leadership event. Now, to close out their first year, WIB is representing SDSU as student ambassadors for Adobe.
As Adobe ambassadors, WIB’s role is to grow the awareness of the Adobe Creative Cloud product suite at SDSU. This product suite includes Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Spark, and many more applications. Prior to COVID-19, university Adobe Ambassadors marketed the products through on-campus events and outreach. Due to the current pandemic, WIB had to shift their strategy to compliment virtual learning. WIB executives are currently working to develop and offer virtual workshops to support their fellow SDSU students.
“This partnership with Adobe reminded me of how extremely grateful I am to have had the opportunity to watch the organization grow this past year,” said Catherine Miranda, president and founder of Women in Business.
WIB hosted their first Zoom workshop on Monday, April 27 focused on resume building. More than 40 students attended the workshop which was led by SDSU graphic design student and president of SDSU AIGA, Jordan Kaatz. Kaatz led the hands-on workshop on resume personalization utilizing the Adobe Illustrator application. Students learned how to use Illustrator tools to help brand themselves through their resume. The workshop provided students with tips and resources to amplify their personal resume through colors, font and icons.
Those students who attended the workshop were also provided a special code to receive a 1-month free-trial so they could apply their newly learned skills to their personal resumes.
The resume workshop proved to be bittersweet for several of the WIB leaders. While the workshop was an overall success it also served as the final meeting of the founding executive team. 11 of the 12 WIB officers are graduating seniors.
“Thank you to the first wave of WIB executives, interns, and our members for their dedication, passion, and work ethic,” shared Catherine Miranda. “While many of these collaborations involved being in the right place at the right time, the saying goes that ‘success is when preparation meets opportunity.’”
