Bio

Alex Yao is an Associate Professor of Marketing at the Fowler College of Business, San Diego State University, where he has served since 2019. He is an award-winning educator, recognized with the Fowler College Teaching Excellence Award and nominated as one of the most influential faculty members at SDSU.

Dr. Yao earned his Ph.D. from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, where he received the USC Excellence in Teaching Award in Marketing. His research focuses on quantitative marketing, AI/machine learning, and business analytics, with an emphasis on developing rigorous, data-driven insights to inform managerial decision-making.

His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Marketing, the International Journal of Research in Marketing, among other premier outlets. He currently serves as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Business Research.

Dr. Yao is committed to mentoring student research and engaging academic and industry audiences on topics related to quantitative marketing, AI, and data-driven strategy.
