Bio
Jaemin Kim has taught courses in international finance, entrepreneurship, fundamentals of finance, and investments at San Diego State University and previously at the University of Oregon. He was recognized as the Most Influential Faculty member in both 2014 and 2024. His primary research interests include project finance, corporate finance (including share repurchases, dividends, and capital structure), international finance, and entrepreneurship. His research has been published in leading journals, including the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (JFQA) and Family Business Review. He received the 7th Shinhan Bank Best Paper Award for his publication in JFQA.
Before entering academia, Kim was affiliated with the Daewoo Group, then one of South Korea’s four largest industrial conglomerates, where he served as an assistant to Chairman Kim Woo Choong. Prior to becoming chair of the Department of Finance, he also served the college as Director of Undergraduate Programs.
