Fowler Welcomes Seven New Professors to Start the 2022 Fall Semester
Seven assistant professors will join San Diego State University’s Fowler College of
Business at the start of the fall semester during the 2022 - 23 academic year.
Isaac Green
Isaac Green joins the Fowler College of Business as an assistant professor of finance
this fall. Green began his finance Ph.D. program at the Johnson Graduate School of
Management at Cornell University in 2016. Prior to attending Cornell, he served as
a research assistant at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, where he worked on
topics related to money markets and monetary policy implementation. He holds a B.A.
with high honors in economics from Oberlin College.
As a researcher, Green is interested in financial institutions, such as banks, and fintech lenders, and their interactions with the macroeconomy.
Hossein Shirazi
After completing postdoctoral studies at Colorado State University, Hossein Shirazi
will join SDSU’s management information systems (MIS) faculty in August 2022. His
research interests lie in machine learning and cyber-security, which he has applied
to several cyber-security problems including social engineering attacks, security
of heavy vehicles, and security of IoT devices and networks.
Shirazi will teach Business Applications Programming (MIS-315) and Object-Oriented Programming for Business Applications (MIS-515) during fall 2022.
Stefan Slavov
After earning his Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Tennessee, Stefan Slavov
will arrive at the Fowler College of Business’ Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy
where he will teach three sections of ACCTG-431 (Auditing) during the fall 2022 semester.
Prior to entering his Ph.D. program, Slavov was an audit senior with Deloitte in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has experience auditing both public and private companies, primarily in the life sciences and manufacturing industries. Slavov enjoys spending time with friends and family, soccer, college basketball, food, culture and the outdoors.
Yue Song
Prior to joining the management department at the Fowler College of Business, Yue
Song served as an assistant professor at Auburn University for the past five years.
Song earned her Ph.D. in strategic management and entrepreneurship from Virginia Tech, and her master’s degree in finance from Claremont McKenna College. Her research interests include innovation, ecosystems, and entrepreneurship, and she will be teaching two sections of MGT-358 (Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship) during the fall 2022 semester.
Lin Wang
Lin Wang will join the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy this fall where she
will teach ACCTG-620 (Financial Measurement and Reporting). Prior to entering academia,
Wang was a tax manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers with experience in the areas of audit
and corporate tax.
Wang’s research interests include corporate governance, tax avoidance, and audit partner and audit committee characteristics. She received recognition for research and teaching during her years at McMaster University and Florida Atlantic University, where she earned her Ph.D. in 2022.
Shengjie Xu
Before joining the management information systems (MIS) department at SDSU, Shengjie
Xu was an assistant professor at Dakota State University’s Department of Computer
Science. In 2019, he earned his Ph.D. in computer engineering from the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln where he earned numerous grants and awards. His research focuses
on cybersecurity and its intersections with artificial intelligence, machine learning
and edge computing.
Xu serves as a technical editor for IEEE Wireless Communications magazine. He holds multiple professional certifications in cybersecurity and computer networking and will teach the Fundamentals of Cybersecurity Management (MIS-585) and Secure Enterprise Networking and Mobile Technologies (MIS-687) this fall.
Yun Dong Yeo
Yun Dong Yeo joins the Fowler College of Business as an assistant professor of management
this fall where he will teach two sections of MGT-405 (Strategic Management). In 2022,
he earned his Ph.D. in management from the Naveen Jindal School of Management at the
University of Texas at Dallas and his research interests include firm risk-taking
and risk management, international strategies, entrepreneurship, and the energy sector.
Prior to his career in academia, Yeo was a sergeant in the Republic of Korea (South Korea) army where he was an anti-artillery radar specialist.
