The Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University and Barron’s in Education program have recently entered into a partnership that would provide a digital subscription to Barron’s magazine for each member of the college’s faculty and SDSU’s business students.

This partnership was made possible by a sponsorship from Reilly Financial Advisors (RFA), an independent wealth advisory firm based in La Mesa, California. RFA’s sponsorship will make the subscription available the Fowler College of Business faculty and the students at no cost to the university.

In addition to the digital subscription, faculty members will be provided with a weekly review of financial news and events, an email newsletter summarizing Barron’s headline articles and investment stories, and live guest lecturers/webinars available through Dow Jones, and Barron’s. Through this partnership, the college will be able to connect with Barron’s corporate recruitment teams about career openings and student internship programs and will be offered the opportunity to participate in a private tour of Dow Jones’ New York headquarters.

“We are truly excited to bring the Barron’s in Education program to the Fowler College of Business, teaming with Reilly Financial Advisors, Dean Reinig and faculty to provide valuable experiential learning opportunities for students preparing for a successful career in business.”

- Joe Lanza, Director of Financial Education Dow Jones

“I am so excited to have the opportunity to give back to SDSU in a meaningful way,” said Frank Reilly, president of RFA. “Over a third of our staff are SDSU alumni and we currently have employees who are enrolled in the graduate program at the Fowler College of Business. As a financial professional, I can’t stress the importance of financial literacy enough, and I’m happy to share my professional experience in the classroom as an SDSU guest lecturer and through ongoing volunteer work.” Reilly has been named as one of “America’s Best Independent Advisors” by Barron’s for five years in a row.

Founded in 1999 as a fee-only registered investment advisor firm, RFA has hired more of their wealth management and tax advisors from the Fowler College of Business at SDSU than from any other university.  RFA has also provided numerous internship opportunities to SDSU students who are interested in pursuing post-graduation careers in the financial industry.

“We are thrilled to partner with Barron’s in Education and Reilly Financial Advisors to provide our Fowler students access to the same financial information, market developments, and relevant statistics that business professionals are using in the workplace,” said Bruce Reinig, the Thomas and Evelyn Page Dean (Interim) of SDSU’s Fowler College of Business. “This partnership will help to promote financial literacy across the college while ensuring that all our students have access to this useful resource."

The partnership between the Fowler College of Business and Barron’s will start on September 15, 2020 and will be in effect for two years.
