Fowler Data Analyst Honored with Presidential Staff Excellence Award

Debra Bertram, the database and survey analyst for the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University, was honored as the recipient of the 2020 Presidential Staff Excellence Award in the category of Service to the University.

Bertram, who has worked for SDSU since 1998, is a double Aztec, having earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from SDSU in 2003 and her MBA from the Fowler College of Business in 2008.

Honored for her advocacy on behalf of SDSU’s staff, Bertram was recognized for her work on the Staff Affairs Committee, University Senate, the President’s Budget Advisory Committee and her involvement in committees within the Fowler College of Business which focused on staff development, recognition and morale. In 2013, she spearheaded the effort to launch a campus Toastmasters group designed exclusively for SDSU business students to help them improve their presentation and interview skills.

The annual Presidential Staff Excellence Awards are selected and presented by the president of the university to SDSU staff, management and auxiliary employees who have made outstanding contributions to the university and the surrounding community.
