Dr. Janie Chang Chosen for 2020 Alumni Association Faculty Award
SDSU Honors Fowler College’s Dr. Janie Chang With the 2020 Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Faculty Contributor
Dr. Janie Chang was named the 2020 recipient of the Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Faculty Contributor from San Diego State University’s Fowler College of Business.

The Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Faculty Contributor, one of SDSU’s most prestigious awards, is presented annually to one faculty member from each of the university’s seven academic colleges. Chang will be honored during the 2020 award ceremony which will be held during SDSU’s virtual All-University Convocation on August 20, 2020.
Chang, who serves as the William E. Cole Director of the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy, was nominated for the award for her “considerable service at the School of Accountancy including service on curriculum committees on multiple occasions, faculty recruitment, peer review, and as a long-time graduate advisor.” She has served on numerous committees on both the college and university level and has been instrumental in adding technologies such as big data analytics, SAP, blockchain and artificial intelligence to the curriculum. Chang has also been the Vern Odmark Professor of Accountancy since her arrival at SDSU in 2006.
"Dr. Chang has demonstrated exceptional leadership through her curricular innovations,” said Dr. Bruce Reinig, the Thomas & Evelyn Page Dean (interim) of SDSU’s Fowler College of Business. “She developed the college’s accounting information systems programs and has led the integration of enterprise system technology and cybersecurity into our business programs. Dr. Chang is an accomplished scholar and a recognized leader in the community who has worked with faculty, industry executives, and the AACSB to develop accounting curriculum of the highest standards. She is a tremendous advocate for her faculty and for her students. I am thrilled to see her hard work being recognized with this award."
Chang earned her Ph.D. in at the University of California Irvine and earned her Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
