Fowler Alum’s Company Donates PPE to Heath Care Workers
SDSU Fowler College alumnus, Doug Gans.In light of the COVID-19 crisis, Fowler College of Business alumnus Doug Gans and his company jumped in to help the local community.
Torrey Holistics, a local cannabis dispensary Gans co-owns, donated more than 7,000 N95 face masks and 10,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to San Diego healthcare workers, first responders and community centers.
The donated supplies went to the American Red Cross, the San Diego VA Medical Center, Family Health Centers of San Diego, Scripps Hospital, the Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health, St. Paul’s Senior Services, Remedy RX and the San Diego Harbor Police.
Gans and Tony Hall, his business partner and co-owner, made the donations when they “saw an opportunity to directly help their community, the medical workers on the frontlines, and those most vulnerable.”

The team has further pledged to donate a portion of their April proceeds to two local senior citizen’s community centers: St. Paul’s Senior Service and the senior adult department of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center.
“It was very important to us to support seniors, who are the most vulnerable COVID-19 victims,” said Gans, who earned his bachelor’s degree in management from SDSU’s Fowler College of Business in 1990.
Hall added: “Now is the time to demonstrate that we are a single united community and that we will overcome this pandemic by helping each other out in any way we can. We feel very fortunate to have met some amazing people - albeit under trying circumstances - and we are confident that our community will continue coming together to service one another.”
