A student from SDSU’s Fowler College of Business, Daniel Kelly, has been named the 2020 Pacific Coast Regional Collegian of the Year by national business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi.
Kelly, a senior majoring in management with a specialization in entrepreneurship, has served in a number of leadership positions in the San Diego State chapter of Delta Sigma Pi (the Iota Pi chapter), including a recent stint as the chapter’s president.
During his time as chapter president, Kelly’s leadership in response to a recent incident of misconduct within the organization and subsequent development of new bylaws to address future incidents was recognized by Delta Sigma Pi’s national leadership during the award selection process.
With nearly 13,000 current collegiate members nationally, Delta Sigma Pi’s 2020 Pacific Coast Regional Collegian of the Year “recognizes an individual for his or her contributions, achievements, participation, and personal character.” All regional winners are awarded a $250 scholarship by the organization.
“One of best things to come out of my time as president (of the SDSU Delta Sigma Pi chapter) was the opportunity to build a culture,” said Kelly. “To me, leadership is all about empowering others to create change in their own lives and communities and I am especially proud of creating an inclusive environment where everyone can feel welcome.”
