Sports MBA Tours Petco Park

The SDSU Sports MBA Class of 2021 had the privilege to tour Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. Led by Ken Kawachi and Christian Mua, both Senior Directors in the Events Operations department, the group viewed various areas of the ballpark, from the seats behind home plate to Gallagher Square, the 2.7-acre park beyond center field.

In addition, Ken and Christian took the time to provide the group with valuable knowledge about the business operations of Petco Park. Although the ballpark is primarily known for baseball, it hosts non-baseball events throughout the year. Events hosted can be sports-related, such as Supercross, Monster Jam, or The Links, in which the venue turns into a 9-hole golf course. Various events extend beyond sports, including concerts such as a Taylor Swift (2015) and KAABOO San Diego (Sep. 2020).

The Sports MBA Class of 2021 genuinely enjoyed the opportunity to tour one of the most fascinating venues in all of sports and the class thanks Ken, Christian, and the entire San Diego Padres organization for their hospitality. We're looking forward to returning to Petco Park and watching the San Diego Padres win some ball games this summer!
