Super Girl Surf Pro 2025
Recently, SMBA ’26 students volunteered at a staple event of the Sports MBA program experience, the Super Girl Surf Pro – the largest women’s sports, music and lifestyle event. The 3-day event, produced by ASA Entertainment, was held at Oceanside Pier and free to attend. The Super Girl Festival Series is designed to empower, uplift, and inspire women. This year’s event featured live concerts, fitness and wellness classes, a female leadership panel, sport competitions and showcases (e.g. inline skating, skateboarding, beach volleyball, cheerleading, flag football, beach soccer), and the largest women’s surfing event in the world. Leilani McGonagle took home the coveted red cape at this year’s 19th annual Super Girl Surf Pro.

Sports MBA students volunteered across four days preparing for and executing the festival in various roles, including operations, hospitality, check-in, sponsor services, competition management, and more to ensure a seamless event. Whether it was distributing ice to the VIP section, helping with the surf competition, checking on the bands, or shadowing and assisting the partnership manager directly, students were working hard, lending a hand and having fun.

Meighan Scarpino ('26) was the liason for the cohort and volunteered for four days of the event. She shared, "Working with ASA Entertainment and Super Girl teams to help coordinate this event was such an amazing opportunity. I'm very grateful to have worked alongside Dave Berchem and learned from all of the staff. At the event, I was able to work in event setup, operations, sponsorships, and hospitality. Watching the event come to life and seeing its impact on people was the best part!"

Thank you to ASA Entertainment, Dave Berchem and the entire Super Girl Surf Pro team for allowing the SMBA ’26 students to gain experience and be a part of this empowering event! We look forward to next year's 20th anniversary!
