Recruiter Speed Dating Event Prepares Students for Post-Graduation Careers

September 8, 2025

SDSU’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy hosted a first-of-its-type Speed Dating with Recruiters event on August 29, 2025 to promote career readiness among upper-division accounting students.

The event was initiated as a lead-up to the Meet the Firms event (held September 17) to prepare students — especially those who’ve recently transferred to SDSU — the opportunity to network with SDSU accounting alumni and recruiters working at local accounting firms to discuss interview tips and industry insight prior to recruiting season.

“With over half of our upper-division accounting students coming in as transfers, we wanted to provide support for them as they navigated a new campus, a new program, and a new professional landscape,” said Jeff Wang, the William E. Cole Director of the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy. “It allowed all of our incoming upper-division students the ability to engage in quick introductions to industry professionals, while they asked questions and gained feedback in rapid succession.”

“The experience of meeting so many firms was incredibly valuable,” said Mark Fares, who transferred to SDSU from San Diego Miramar College during the fall of 2025. “I was able to connect with SDSU alumni working at top accounting firms to gain valuable strategies for making a strong impression during the Meet the Firms event. I was truly grateful for the insights shared and excited for what lies ahead.”
