Bonello and Guerrero were nominated for their scholarships by faculty members at SDSU’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy and are likely to pursue careers as accounting/financial auditors.

Guerrero, who entered her final year of her BMACC degree program this fall, is actively involved in the Hispanic Business Student Association.

“This scholarship alleviates some financial strain and allows me to be more involved in school activities, community events, and to study for the CPA exams,” she said.

Bonello, an SDSU senior and member of Beta Alpha Psi, will also pursue a BMACC degree with plans to complete the program in spring 2027.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity to further my education in accounting and to continue my goal of becoming a CPA,” said Bonello.

Only those students who maintain an overall GPA of 3.3 or higher, display outstanding ethical standards, and qualify to receive federal financial assistance are eligible for PCAOB scholarships.

“Emily and Sarah are the seventh and eighth SDSU students to have earned this national honor, securing a combined total of $100,000 in scholarship funding from PCAOB,” said Professor Yan Luo. Luo, who serves as the PCAOB scholarship coordinator for the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy. “This remarkable milestone reflects the caliber of our students and the strength of our program.”
