Sports MBA Students Volunteer at the Salute to the Champions

SMBA at Salute to the Champions
Earlier this week, several current SMBA students (’25) and a few recent graduates (SMBA ’24) had the privilege to volunteer at the 77th Annual Salute to the Champions event hosted by the San Diego Sports Association in a celebration of local legends. Volunteer opportunities for SMBA included assisting with event set up and the reception, guest registration, social media, award presentation, ushering honorees, and backstage facilitation.

The Salute to the Champions is San Diego’s premiere sports awards gala, where the year’s memorable performances are celebrated, and all-time greats are honored with being inducted into the Breitbard Hall of Fame. This year’s Breitbard Hall of Fame inductees included Jake Peavy, Adrian Gonzalez, and Charde Houston. Other honorees included the 2024 Stars of the Year, the Ron Fowler Community Champion, and more. Special shout out to SDSU Women’s Softball who received the Significant Achievement Award and Mac Barbara who was honored as one of the Stars of the Year.

Sports MBA is grateful to Annie Heilbrunn for the continued partnership and opportunity for our students to be a part of such a special and prestigious event in the San Diego sports community. This event is a true testament of the importance of sports going beyond the field, showcasing the value and impact of sports on the community as well.
