SDSU Honors Jennifer Fall Jung with 2024 Distinguished Alumni Service Award
Double Aztec, Jennifer Fall Jung, is the recipient of this year’s Distinguished Alumni Service Award for her contributions to the university’s students and her commitment to two SDSU advisory boards.
The award, given bi-annually by SDSU Alumni is given to one exceptional San Diego State University graduate who has served as an outstanding volunteer on behalf of the university.
Fall Jung, who currently serves as the executive vice president and CFO of The Duckhorn Portfolio earned a degree in finance (’93) and her MBA (’94) from the Fowler College of Business. Since graduating from SDSU, she has been involved in the Bay Area SDSU Alumni Chapter, as a student mentor and has provided philanthropic support for the university. She is currently a member of the dean’s board of advisors for the Fowler College of Business and the Bay Area Aztecs.
Fall Jung said she was inspired to give back to SDSU because she spent her entire academic career in the California public school system which has provided her with the educational foundation she needed to achieve her career success. “I feel that my time and my two degrees from SDSU have helped me get where I am today,” she said. “SDSU is a great school and has so much to offer. I want to help continue to improve the university so it can extend opportunities for students, which I once was.”
When asked which of the contributions to SDSU that she is most proud, she said it was her involvement with the students that gave her the most satisfaction. “I’ve enjoyed mentoring a few students where I’ve watched them grow from shy freshmen to confident seniors who got their first job offers. Watching the process was incredibly fulfilling,” said Fall Jung, who has also served as a guest lecturer in several SDSU classes and has provided internships to students at her previous company. “Speaking from experience, I know it isn’t always easy to navigate a university as large as SDSU, and anything I can do to help students get the tools and resources they need to succeed is rewarding.”
