Sports MBA Cohosts Women in Soccer Event Before NWSL Final
In partnership with the non-profit organization Women in Soccer, SDSU Sports MBA co-hosted an event in the Thrive Lot outside Snapdragon Stadium prior to the 2023 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) final between OL Reign and NY/NJ Gotham FC.
Students were onsite at Snapdragon the entire day of the final assisting NWSL with the final’s pregame fan fest and its fan-friendly activations.
SDSU Sports MBA and Women in Soccer hosted a morning kick-around in which local fans could mingle with visiting fans and soccer executives. San Diego Soccer Women, Lambda Rising Soccer, The Sirens Supporters Group, Women Kick Balls and more.
SDSU Sports MBA was represented by current students who volunteered, and by alumna Natalie Akula (SMBA ‘09), Senior Manager of Medical Operations with Major League Soccer, who offered advice to and networked with attendees at the event.
The event featured tips for networking in the soccer industry, personal branding best practices, advice for getting a job in soccer, and first-hand advice from Akula and other soccer professionals on how to break into the industry.
