Students Visit Stance World Headquarters in San Clemente
As part of their Sports Marketing course taught by alumnus Chris Clark (SMBA ‘12), the SDSU Sports MBA class of 2024 ventured north to San Clemente to visit the Stance World Headquarters.
Stance is an apparel company with a strong focus on making exceptional socks. Beyond just manufacturing apparel, it is heavily involved in the sports and entertainment space with athlete, team, musician, artist, and league partnerships.
In addition to substantial office space for departments such as product design and sales, Stance HQ also includes an NBA-size basketball court, full gym training facility and physiotherapy consultation room, as well as a large multi-purpose room and outdoor area. This physical space reflects Stance’s core values and commitment to wellness and positive culture in the workplace and beyond, something that they strive to ensure their customer feels when they purchase a product from Stance.
Stance’s CFO, Brian Shea, led the facility tour for the MBA students, resulting in a number of finance and accounting questions as part of the Q & A session. In their first semester of the Sports MBA program, the group are currently enrolled in intensive courses in both fields back on campus, and this was an opportunity to see their coursework applied in a business setting.
The availability of numerous world-class businesses in Southern California provides the cohort with these types of opportunities to apply what they learn in the classroom to the business world.
Thank you to Brian Shea and the entire Stance team for their hospitality!
