April 20, 2023

The Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University is pleased to announce that Timothy Wright (’86, finance) will serve as the director of the Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate. Wright is currently the senior managing director in the San Diego office of Jones Lange Lasalle (JLL) Capital Markets, Americas.

Wright will transition into the director’s position on May 1.

“For me, the position presents a unique opportunity to integrate my on-going capital markets and general industry experience into the mission of the center,” Wright said.

The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate was established at SDSU in 2009 with a focus on enhancing student experiential learning and professional development opportunities through deeper real estate industry exposure and partnerships.

“Tim brings extraordinary experience and relationships to the role,’ said Dan Moshavi, the Thomas and Evelyn Page dean of the Fowler College of Business. “He is well-known and respected throughout the San Diego real estate community.”

Wright joined JLL as part of the HFF merger in 2019 and has more than 35 years of experience in commercial real estate finance. He is primarily responsible for originating joint venture, equity and debt transactions throughout the western United States. His primary focus has been on hospitality, life science, and multifamily transactions. During the course of his career, Wright has completed in excess of $10 billion in real estate transactions, across multiple platforms and product types. He graduated with honors in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and holds an MBA in finance with a real estate concentration from San Diego State University.

In his role in the Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate, Wright will be responsible for enhancing the student experience and elevating the profile of the center by creating networking opportunities for students and industry professionals, developing co-curricular training programs that focus on building real-estate related skills, and facilitating career-development workshops.
