It was a beautiful weekend for golf at Torrey Pines Golf course for the recent Farmers Insurance Open. As always, Sports MBA students were all over the course, assisting the Century Club of San Diego, a non-profit organization that is responsible for putting on San Diego's annual PGA event.
The Sports MBA students were inside the ropes all week volunteering for the event in various capacities. The group donned their "Aztec red" for this year's event, serving as entrance ambassadors, social media caddies, and UltraZone hospitality assistants.
"It was amazing for me to gain hands-on experience as a marketing intern with the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open,” said current student Gabrielle Fan-Yang (SMBA '23). “I was able to make connections with industry professionals throughout San Diego as a result of my involvement in the tournament. I truly admire the Century Club staff for their hard work, professionalism, and passion for the tournament."
Gaelen Kepics (SMBA '23), a ticketing intern for the tournament, was able to present the 2023 winner, Max Homa, with the Champion's Surfboard, an annual gift given by the Century Club to the Farmers Insurance Open winner.
