The Fowler College of Business and the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy earn AACSB Reaccreditation
San Diego State University’s Fowler College of Business and Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy have earned a 5-year reaccreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Accreditation is earned by meeting or exceeding the AACSB’s standards for excellence in degree programs, faculty research, teaching and community service, along with a commitment to continuous advancement and development.
“Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”
There are currently 981 business schools across 60 nations and territories that hold AACSB accreditation and only 194 institutions that maintain AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs. Only 6% of the world’s colleges and universities offering business programs have achieved AACSB accreditation.
The Fowler College of Business has been accredited by AACSB since 1959 and is among the first two schools in the California State University system to achieve that distinction. The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy within the Fowler College of Business has been accredited since 1982 and was the first accounting program in the state of California to earn the AACSB’s stamp of approval.
“AACSB accreditation serves as confirmation to the outstanding quality of our teaching, research and academic programs at the Fowler College of Business and our Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy,” said Dan Moshavi, the Thomas and Evelyn Page Dean of the Fowler College of Business. “Only those institutions demonstrating an adherence to the AACSB’s rigorous standards, and the willingness to go above and beyond those standards, earn accreditation. It’s a testament to our faculty, staff and administrators that we have maintained those standards for nearly 65 years and will continue to do so for the in the future.”
