Fowler Alumni Honored as 2023 Rising Aztecs

Five graduates of SDSU’s Fowler College of Business were recently named among the recipients of 2023 Rising Aztecs awards, which are bestowed biennially to alumni who have demonstrated a high level of engagement and support for the university. The awards are presented by SDSU Alumni and all honorees will be recognized at an on-campus reception on February 21, 2023 and during the Aztec men’s basketball game with Colorado State immediately afterward. 

The Rising Aztec awards celebrate alumni under the age of 40 who have demonstrated extraordinary career achievements, a commitment to the university and the alumni community, are engaged with SDSU Alumni and other university programs, and are representative of the university’s colleges, areas of interest and diverse populations. 

The five Fowler 2023 Rising Aztecs are:

Amber Frankhuizen (’09, Marketing)

Amber Frankhuizen, CEO and founder of the award-winning marketing agency AFMKTG, has mentored dozens of SDSU students in SDSU’s Aztec Mentorship Program both personally and through her company’s internship program. An Aztec for Life, she has committed herself to guiding college students and young professionals through transitional years and has spoken on campus to organizations such as the SDSU American Marketing Association.

Jeffrey Hinshaw (’14, Kinesiology MA/’16 MBA)

Jeffrey Hinshaw is co-founder, COO and CFO of HUMBL, (OTC Markets: HMBL) which has partnered with SDSU to launch a commemorative non-fungible token (NFT) collection featuring notable SDSU achievements such as 100 seasons of Aztec football along with woman’s and men’s soccer and women’s volleyball. He is an SDSU Alumni lifetime member who mentors students through the Lavin Entrepreneur Center where he is an advisory board member.

Jordan Maharaj (’17, Marketing/’21 Master of Public Administration)

Jordan Maharaj is executive director of the Rotary Club of San Diego where she has worked to build a connection to SDSU Rotaract, creating a mentorship pipeline that has matched more than 50 students with Rotary members. A former member of the SDSU development team, she is an SDSU Alumni lifetime member who supports the university philanthropically as well as through her service as a mentor.

Kimberly Spinardi (’10, Accounting)

Kim Spinardi is a partner at Hamilton Tharp LLP, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants where she plays an active role recruiting for the firm. In addition to mentoring SDSU students through the Aztec Mentor Program and Aztecs Going Pro, she also raises funds for campus initiatives, colleges, and student organizations. She currently supports the university as an SDSU Alumni lifetime member who also sits on the organization’s board of advisors.

Cameron Stacy (’15, Management)

Cameron Stacy, vice president – preferred banking group for City National Bank, was recognized as one of the San Diego Business Journal’s 2022 Top 50 LGBTQ+ Leaders of Influence. In addition to supporting guest lecturers and mentoring students at SDSU, his community involvement includes service on multiple boards including SDSU’s Business Management Advisory Board, the Copley-Price YMCA Advisory Board, and the San Diego Equality Business Association as treasurer.
