About the Management Consulting Club

Q: What is the goal/objective of the Management Consulting Club?

To provide a platform for SDSU students (both undergraduate and graduate) to network and interact with consulting industry experts while bringing internship and job opportunities to the SDSU community.

Q: What events, gatherings, and activities does your organization host?

The Management Consulting Club hosts Speaker Series events to educate students interested in the consulting industry. We offer resume building workshops, case interview preparation workshops, networking events for students to build industry connections, and recruitment drives.

Q: Why should students join your organization?

Students who are interested in pursuing a career in consulting would greatly benefit from joining our organization because of the various guest speakers and the career-building events we host.

Q: How can a student get involved with your organization?

Students can get involved by attending the events we host. Students who are passionate about their involvement in our organization can also apply for a leadership position. We are always in search of great leaders! If students want a specific speaker or an industry expert to be involved, they can let us know and we will try to make it happen. Students are encouraged to share their consulting industry connections with all members of the Management Consulting Club.

Q: How does your organization connect with the community outside of SDSU?

We have partnered with USD to combine our efforts in hopes of building a common platform for individuals interested in consulting. Our aim is to build a common consulting forum which can  be beneficial for the entire San Diego community.

Q: When does your organization meet?

We meet on Thursdays from 4 - 6 pm in Peterson Gym Room 242. However, most of our events are held in the Aztec Student Union. Check out our social media channels for event locations and details.

Q: What are your organization’s social media handles?

Q: Anything else you’d like to add about your organization.

Our organization has been in existence for a year now, but has been operational for a semester. In the short time since its inception, we have had three members land internship roles in the consulting industry!

Q & A with Maliha Abroo, President of the Management Consulting Club

Q: As a student leader involved with an organization at SDSU, can you share why  you got involved and what your experience has been like so far?

I wanted to experience a taste of what being in the shoes of a leader feels like, so I am  well-seasoned when dealing with responsibilities and ownership post-graduation. This will hone me to be well prepared when applying for leadership positions in actual firms.

Being in a leadership position opens up an array of opportunities. Apart from getting to know and network with industry experts, I’ve also gotten the chance to work with them in person which led to developing close relationships with some great mentors. These mentors have been supportive advocates of my success and have thus far rooted for me by referring job opportunities within their network.

Q: What experience with your organization has been the most impactful?

The most impactful experience I’ve gained thus far is holding the role of President for the Management Consulting Club. This role has earned me recognition amongst all my graduate peers. Every time I walk across campus someone seems to recognize me.

Q: What has been your favorite SDSU memory so far?

While I have made many wonderful memories and many more in the making, cheering on the Aztecs during basketball games is something I truly cherish.

Q: What is the best advice you have for future Fowler College of Business students?

The program or curriculum may be pre decided, but only you have the power to decide what you want to do and where you want to be. So, take action and make everything you’ve wanted happen! Everything else will flow.

Q: What is the best advice you have received during your time at SDSU?

Advice may not always be the best, but I have received one comment that has kept echoing in my mind everyday ever since - “don’t forget us when you make it on the cover of Forbes Magazine.”

Q: What career aspirations do you have following your time at SDSU?

Post SDSU, I hope to pursue a career in management consulting myself and ultimately have my own startup company. In fact, I attended SDSU for its entrepreneurial spirit and environment!
