Super Girl Surf Pro
Over the weekend of September 16-18th, SMBA ‘23 students worked and volunteered at the 15th annual Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro in Oceanside, CA. As the world’s largest women’s surf event and music festival, this weekend was jam-packed with world-class surfing from over 150 athletes, 15 live performances, a festival village loaded with female-inspired vendors, and free activities catering to all guests. SMBA ‘23 students supported the success of this event in various roles including directly shadowing event management, assisting in hospitality areas, and guiding guests from the information and registration booths.
Joshua Himbury (‘23) shares what he learned from his experience: “Working at the Super Girl Surf Pro was a great way to be exposed to the inner workings of an extremely popular and successful sports event. Throughout my experience I was immersed in many aspects of the event, everything from setting up hospitality for athletes and customers, to engagement with sponsors and partners to ensure that their goals were being met. Throughout its existence it has continued to grow as an event, which is a testament to the growing desire and support for women’s sport in general! It was exciting to be on the front line of what was an extremely successful celebration of sport, music, esports, art and culture!”
Thank you to ASA Entertainment and the Super Girl Surf Pro team for allowing the SMBA ‘23 students to be part of the only all-female action sports and esports competition and lifestyle series in the world!
