Corey Loosbrock (left) with his son, Trent LoosbrockDid your college experience influence your parenting style? If so, how?
Corey: I received two degrees from SDSU's Fowler College of Business — a bachelor’s in finance
and a Master of Science in supply chain operations. It was hard work and required
sacrifices along the way, but it also opened up a lot of opportunities for me in my
career. I think my college experience taught me that hard work pays off in the long
run and this has been one of my core parenting principles with my kids.
Did your dad’s education at SDSU inspire you to attend?
Trent: At first it didn't really cross my mind, but once I toured the school with him, it
definitely influenced me hearing all his stories from back in the day. Looking at
pictures from when my dad attended SDSU, it's amazing how much the campus has changed
over the years. My mom (Jamie Loosbrock, ’94, marketing), dad, and grandfather are
all SDSU business school grads, so someday when I have kids, I hope to inspire them
to continue the SDSU tradition.
How do you think your SDSU experience was different from Trent’s?
Corey: I was a commuter student that transferred from junior college. I did not live on campus,
so I missed out on a lot of experiences. Although I made the best of my time here
at SDSU by joining the SDSU crew team, a business fraternity, and other clubs, I did
not have the traditional college experience. One of my biggest regrets was not living
on campus and I wanted Trent to have this experience at SDSU. I am so glad that Trent
has been able to live on or near campus since his freshman year and, as a result,
have the experiences that I missed out on.
When do you anticipate earning your bachelor’s degree?
Trent: I am a double major - majoring in marketing and sustainability. I plan to earn my
marketing degree in spring 2023 and my sustainability degree in spring 2024.
Can you talk about SDSU’s impact on your lives?
Trent: I've made a lot of great memories and had an unforgettable experience at SDSU so
far. I spent a lot of my time involved in Phi Kappa Psi, the SDSU surf team, and American
Marketing Association. I am grateful for the lifelong friendships I have made along
the way.
Corey: I am so proud that Trent is following his parent's and grandfather's (Jim Reeg, ’71, accountancy) footsteps by attending SDSU's Fowler College of Business. Attending SDSU has played a pivotal role in our family's good fortune and success, and I am confident it will put Trent on a good career path.
