Crowell Family
David Crowell (‘89, Marketing) and Blake Crowell (Freshman, Finance)
Blake Crowell (left) with his father, David CrowellDid your college experience influence your parenting style? If so, how?
David: Absolutely. My college experience was unique because I paid my way through while achieving
a bachelor's degree. When using your own money, you truly want to learn the material
because otherwise it would be a waste of your hard-earned funds. I truly believe that
you need to push your kids to embrace the gift of knowledge so they actually learn
the material, then go out into the world and have fruitful careers and joyful lives.
Did your dad’s education at SDSU inspire you to attend?
Blake: Of course, he’s a role model. Knowing he attended here and ended up successful seems
like a road worth following!
How do you think your SDSU experience was different from Blake’s?
David: I had to work my way through college, so I didn’t get to experience the dorm life
or get to plug into the school activities. We are paying for Blake’s education so
he can experience the full gamut of school activities, play intramural sports and
build some great relationships with others who are in the early stage of building
their future. Hopefully he will get the chance to explore some good intern opportunities
as well.
When do you anticipate earning your bachelor’s degree?
Blake: By the first semester of my senior year or sooner.
As an Aztec, what are you looking forward to?
David: I had a lot of fun while I was there and wish I could have attended more of the sports
events. SDSU has upped their game in many sports and with the new football stadium
and successful basketball team, Blake has some great times ahead.
Blake: I’m looking forward to the coming years with the ARC expansion and football stadium.
