Grace Markel, who will graduate in May, was honored with one of the university’s most prestigious student achievement awards at a gala dinner and awards ceremony on April 22.
The SDSU faculty or staff member who has made the most positive impact in each recognized
student’s academic career are simultaneously honored with a Faculty/Staff Quest for
the Best award. Markel’s chosen faculty member was marketing professor, Erlinde Cornelis.
Now in its 36th year, “Quest for the Best” honorees are chosen for their outstanding achievements
in:
- Academics
- Involvement in student organizations and campus activities
- Community service
- Leadership ability
All eligible students must be currently enrolled at SDSU, have a 3.0 GPA or better, and have completed a minimum of 75 units of course work.
Markel, a native of Folsom, California, serves as the vice president of public relations
for Rotaract of San Diego State University, as well as the chair of the university’s
Senate Sustainability Committee. She previously held the position of vice president
of marketing for the Enviro-Business Society and was a peer facilitator for SDSU’s
Aztecs Reaching Aztecs program.
