Fred Pierce Honored with Distinguished Alumni Service Award
This year’s Distinguished Alumni Service Award honors Frederick W. Pierce IV, a double Aztec (’84, finance, ’88 MBA) of the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University and the president and CEO of Pierce Education Properties.
Pierce is no stranger to the SDSU Alumni Awards of Distinction, having won the award from the Fowler College of Business in 1999. He is a dedicated follower of SDSU sports programs and serves the university in numerous capacities. Currently, Pierce is a member of the executive committee of the Campanile Foundation, is on the board for The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate and the Fowler College of Business, and he sits on SDSU’s Mission Valley Campus Residential Policy Advisory Group. He is a trustee emeritus of the 23-campus California State University (CSU) system and is a past president of the SDSU Alumni Association. Most recently, Fred was a forceful public spokesperson for the Friends of SDSU in promoting and securing voter approval of SDSU West (Measure G) on the 2018 ballot, which brought about the sale of the former SDCCU stadium property to SDSU for development of SDSU Mission Valley.
Thanks to the generosity of Pierce and his wife, Christine, those touring the SDSU campus will see Pierce’s name in a number of the university’s buildings, including the Pierce Family Foyer at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center and in the elevators of the Student Services East building where the offices of the Fowler College of Business are located.
Pierce and the rest of this year’s honorees will be recognized at a celebration on April 23 for their significant contributions to San Diego State University, the San Diego community, or for contributions made to the state of California, to the nation, or internationally.
