Sports MBA 22 Students Begin Journey with Charitable Sports Event Planning

SMBA Students visited Splitrock Farm & Retreat 

Long-time friend of Sports MBA, Dr. Ben Corbett, a sports business professor who has taught multiple subjects worldwide, is back in San Diego and has sought help from students to turn his passion for fitness and the outdoors into a charitable event. Dr. Corbett recently visited the Sports MBA classroom to present a case study to students about his vision to create a brand-new adventure race on a rugged piece of hilly property in Fallbrook, CA. On November 10th, 2021, a group of Sports MBA students interested in helping Ben create his vision visited Splitrock Farm & Retreat to learn more about the opportunity. 

Sports MBA students toured the property, ran the challenging, uphill racecourse, and had a BBQ overlooking the Pacific Ocean while discussing the next steps for the planned event. Students will soon begin assisting with event operations, sponsorships, marketing, web design, and project management for the event, with the hope of launching the first annual race in October 2022.
