Fowler Success, Safe at Home: An Interview with Alumnus Christian Deleon
Christian Deleon (Marketing, ’09)
Christian Deleon (Marketing, ’09), Fowler College of Business alumnus and Digital Communications Specialist at Intuit Inc., chats with San Diego State University’s business librarian, Timothy Tully. In addition to his role at Intuit, Deleon owns his own marketing company, 4TEN MKTG, and is a marketing consultant for The Perfect Game All-American Classic, an annual showcase featuring the top high school baseball talents entering their senior years of high school. Deleon has worked in multiple industries throughout his career and has held marketing positions at Qdoba Restaurant Corporation, Sycuan Casino, and San Diego State University Athletics. In his interview, Deleon and Tully discuss COVID-19’s impact on digital communications, the value of his SDSU experience, advice for current students seeking jobs, and more.
Deleon encourages students to take advantage of the internship and networking opportunities that SDSU has to offer. “You get more out of your college experience and your curriculars based on having that real-world experience of doing an internship or finding a job in your field,” says Deleon, who was a student intern with San Diego State Athletics before being hired as a full-time employee later in his career. He also discusses the value of giving back to students through mentorship, networking with peers, and keeping up with marketing trends.
