Bio

Vassilis Dalakas has been teaching the Sports Marketing and Partnerships course at the Sports MBA Program since 2011. 

Dalakas has won several teaching awards including the Outstanding Marketing Teacher Award from the Academy of Marketing Science and the Master Teacher Award from the Marketing Management Association.

His research focuses on sports fan identification, on rivalry, and on sponsorship. He has published articles in various journals including the Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Business Research, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Marketing Communications, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Services Marketing, and Sport Marketing Quarterly. His article “The Simultaneous Sponsorship of Rival Teams: Beyond Ingroup Favoritism and Outgroup Animosity” was recognized by the American Marketing Association Sport & Sponsorship-Linked Marketing Special Interest Group as the paper of the year in sport marketing for 2022.

His research has been featured on ESPN.com, Sports Business Journal, and the IEG Sponsorship Report among others. In addition, he has been quoted in several media outlets including USA Today, US News & World Report, MSNBC, CBS News, San Diego Union Tribune, and Yahoo Sports.
