Bio

Melodie Hallett is a lecturer in the management information systems department at the Fowler College of Business. She has expertise in data mining and also works as a statistical consultant.

Hallett received her master's degree in statistics from Miami University, and her Ph.D. in computational science with an emphasis in statistics  from Claremont University and SDSU's joint doctoral program. Her dissertation focused on creating and applying novel data mining techniques, particularly random forest models to correlated survival data.

Hallett has taught at SDSU since 2001, focusing on courses in statistics, regression and experimental design, data mining, SAS, SAS for econometrics and SPSS. Additionally, she has over 20 years experience as a statistical consultant working with companies including Proctor & Gamble, Blackboard, and Hewlett Packard on a variety of analysis including sales prediction models, marketing mix models, customer segmentation, and pricing lift models.
