Bio
Hossein Shirazi is an assistant professor of management information systems (MIS) at the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Colorado State University, where he also earned his M.S. degree. Additionally, Shirazi has an M.S. from IAU and a B.S. in computer engineering from Kashan University in Iran.
His research primarily revolves around the convergence of cyber-security, social media analysis, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP). Throughout his academic journey, he has delved into various facets of machine learning and cyber-security, applying these techniques to tackle significant challenges such as social engineering attacks, security for heavy vehicles, and safeguarding IoT devices and networks. Shirazi's work has been published in reputable journals and conference proceedings, contributing significantly to the advancement of knowledge in these domains.
With a strong passion for education, Shirazi possesses extensive teaching experience, particularly in the realm of Python programming. At SDSU, he instructs core and elective MIS courses, including business applications programming and object-oriented programming for business applications.
