College Launches New Fowler Scholars Program
The Fowler College of Business proudly announced its inaugural class of Fowler Scholars
for the fall 2018 semester. This new program is a co-curricular initiative designed
to educate and prepare a select group of students for accelerated and lasting leadership
roles in business and society. Ethical business practices are the cornerstone of the
program which serves as the subject for many classes, seminars, cases, and guest lectures.
Eight students make up the incoming class, comprised of four underclassmen and four upperclassmen. Four women and four men were selected based upon their academic ability, demonstrated leadership, ethical conduct, collaborative nature, and other traits needed to succeed in business. Distinct from an honors program, the Fowler Scholars program is distinguished as a leadership program.
“I’m proud to serve as the first ever director for SDSU’s Fowler Scholars,” said Peter Shaw, Fowler College of Business executive-in-residence and director of the
Fowler Scholars Program. “We are creating a one-of-a-kind experience specifically for a selected group of SDSU business students that blends leading classroom theory with applied learning, interactive personal development, and study abroad opportunities.”
As Fowler Scholars hone skills under the direction of top faculty and professional mentors, their leadership potential will be realized early for maximum impact. The students are excited about the opportunities provided to them as Fowler Scholars.
“I’m grateful to be in the first class,” said Landon Delgadillo, class of 2022. “The Fowler Scholar experience has been very meaningful so far, and I appreciate SDSU’s Fowler College of Business’ investment in my future.”
