Title: SDSU Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program
Description
SDSU Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a program that requires volunteers to prepare for and pass an IRS-administered exam during the first 4 weeks of the Spring semester and then attend 7-8 VITA sessions where low-income taxpayers have Federal and California state income tax returns prepared by volunteers. To volunteer for VITA, students should enroll in a section of ACCTG 409 during the spring. Grades are issued on a CR/NC basis for the 1 unit course based on successful completion of training and attendance at the minimum number of tax return preparation sessions.

VITA training is located in various classrooms on the SDSU campus. VITA tax preparation is located in the Love Library. Off-campus locations working with partner VITA sites is available with permission of the SDSU and partner site VITA coordinators.
