SDSU graduate business alumni recently formed the MBA and Graduate Business Alumni Chapter, which kicked off their first event with a mixer at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center on April 10.

The MBA and Graduate Business Alumni Chapter is the first group formed specifically for SDSU’s nearly 14,000 alumni holding graduate degrees from the Fowler College of Business.

Thomas Evelyn Page Dean Dean Moshavi, Thomas and Evelyn Page Dean of the Fowler College of Business, facilitated a conversation with Deloitte San Diego marketplace leader, Juli Moran on driving growth, building culture, and team delivery.  Jennifer Freet, president of the chapter and CEO of Balboa Manufacturing, moderated a panel discussion featuring Fowler graduate alumni, Jackie Reed (‘15, EMBA), Adnan Hamdani (‘22, MSGBD), Matt Hiler (‘10, SMBA), and Scott Rudi (‘25, MBA).

“The MBA and Graduate Business Alumni Chapter was initiated to offer networking and career development opportunities, and to enhance learning events and engagement for those with graduate degrees from SDSU’s Fowler College of Business,” said Jennifer Fleet (’11, Executive MBA). “Our members will also plan to serve as mentors and role models for Fowler’s current graduate business students.”

“Although I am currently finishing the first year of a two-year program, I am already connected with professionals from a diverse set of industries. I have the opportunity to reach out to other attendees from that night because we all belong to SDSU’s business school.”

“Fowler alumni are already known for their size and their generosity. But we need to strengthen the connective tissue. We need a structure to bind, support, and mobilize our resources”. Sharing her vision, Dr. Congcong Zheng emphasized building a network of 'connective tissue' where every call from a Fowler student or graduate is met with an answer from our alumni community.

“Staying engaged matters and when graduate business alumni join the chapter, they help build a stronger SDSU business community that creates real pathways for career opportunities, mentorships, venture capital funding and connections that extend well beyond the classroom,” said Marco Loza, treasurer for the alumni chapter. “The more people who invest in this network, the more powerful it becomes for everyone in it.”

All SDSU business graduate alumni including the traditional, Executive and Sports MBA programs, and all MS degree programs are welcome.
