The Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) degree prepares you for a leadership career in Information Systems. The job of the information-systems professional is to understand and improve the ways organizations derive value from information. Information-systems professionals have a variety of roles and responsibilities. Business leaders (including Chief Information Officers, or CIOs) focus on ways to nurture and exploit information assets to gain competitive advantage in their industries. Technical practitioners focus on the specification, development, and deployment of new information-related capabilities.

The Master of Science degree in Financial and Tax Planning is a 30 unit program designed to provide in-depth professional financial planning education. Students granted a business administration bachelor's degree from an AACSB accredited program normally meet all course prerequites. Others may have up to 21 units of prerequisite classes.
The goal of this program is to provide the educational background for graduates to provide professional financial planning services at the highest level possible. This program attempts to provide the academic background students need to pass the examinations for the CFP certification, and much of the background for the CFA and Enrolled Agent professional designations.

Concurrent programs leading to MBA and Juris Doctor degrees are offered through SDSU's partnerships with California Western School of Law (CWSL) and Thomas Jefferson School of Law (TJSL). These concurrent degree programs are designed for students interested in working in fields where law and business converge. Students are expected to apply first to the law program (at either Cal Western or Thomas Jefferson) and then apply to the SDSU MBA program during their first year of law school.
Certificate Program (through CES)
The goal of the Executive Financial Planner Advanced Certificate program is to enable
experienced financial services professionals to understand the content material of
financial planning with the goal of providing advice based solely on the interests
of their clients.
You may decide to make the commitment to work toward the SDSU Executive Financial Planner Advance Certificate and continue, if admitted, to complete a Master's Degree in Financial and Tax Planning.
We feel this program is one of the strongest in the nation and are quite proud of
SDSU's accomplishments in this area. The CFP Board has reviewed this program and approved
it “with commendation”. Financial Planning has been named one of America's "Best Jobs"
and we feel SDSU is the best place to prepare for, or enhance, a career in that field.

SDSU's Certificate in Accounting program provides professional, post-baccalaureate education to non-accounting professionals in the San Diego community.
The program is intended to provide professional training necessary for candidates to sit for the CPA or CMA examinations. Participants typically include:
- Non-accounting post baccalaureate students
- Foreign practitioners, and
- Non-accounting professionals
Participants enroll in regular SDSU accounting courses on a space-available basis through the Open University program. Currently matriculated SDSU students may not enroll in the Certificate in Accounting. The faculty from San Diego State University's School of Accountancy provides instruction through regular course offerings which provide academic credit.
