The three students, Alexis Conde (senior), Vanessa Hernandez (senior) and Danilo Urquia (senior), were given a business case study which incorporated several human resources challenges prior to the event. After they analyzed the case, they provided their solution in a PowerPoint format to the competition manager in advance and gave an oral presentation to a panel of judges during the event.

The team was coached by SDSU SHRM faculty advisor, Dr. Michelle Dean, and SDSU SHRM executive-in-residence, Andy Esparza.  Dr. Dean founded the SHRM chapter at San Diego State in 2011.
