SDSU Student Business Organization Named Among Best in the U.S.

The SDSU chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has again been recognized as one of the best student chapters in the United States at the 2018 SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition. This marks the fourth time in the past five years that the SHRM SDSU chapter, founded on the SDSU campus in the fall 2011, has earned top honors from the national organization.

Of the over 200 SHRM student chapters, SDSU’s chapter was only one of a handful to have been recognized as an Outstanding Student Chapter which is the highest designation awarded by SHRM’s national organization.

The SDSU chapter had 75 members over this past academic year, most of whom plan to pursue a career in the field of human resources upon earning their degrees.

“The fact that SHRM SDSU has again been acknowledged among the best student chapters in the nation says a great deal about our student members and their dedication to their own professional development outside the classroom,” said Dr. Michelle Dean, SDSU SHRM’s faculty advisor and management professor. “Our officers have been extremely creative in continuously developing innovative programming to help their fellow students prepare for future HR careers.  It is very rewarding to see the chapter’s collective efforts and dedication recognized at the highest level by national SHRM.”

The award was presented to Dr. Dean and 15 SHRM SDSU members on June 20 at SHRM’s national meeting in Chicago.
