Dr. Martina Musteen Honored Among Top SDSU Professors

Management professor, Dr. Martina Musteen, was awarded the 2017 recipient of the SDSU Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Faculty Contributor from the Fowler College of Business. Known as the "Faculty Monty", it is SDSU’s most prestigious faculty award, which is presented annually to one faculty member from each of SDSU's seven colleges. The award was presented to Musteen during SDSU’s annual All-University Convocation on August, 24, 2017.

Musteen was nominated because she “is a key contributor to the success of the Fowler College of Business” in the areas of teaching, research and service. As a teacher, Musteen is known for her innovation and hands-on approach in getting students involved in activities that offer them exposure to global experiences and international entrepreneurs. She has also been deeply involved in getting students research opportunities and has been a very successful researcher herself, having published her work in many of the top academic journals. She has been active in a number of professional organizations and served as a senior editor of Journal of World Business, one of the most highly regarded journals dedicated to international business research. In addition, Musteen has offered her time and expertise to the college in a number of committees and as the faculty director to SDSU’s Center for International Business and Education Research (CIBER).

“Dr. Musteen’s extraordinary contributions to the Fowler College of Business and dedication to her students has been evident and impactful throughout her career at SDSU,” said Dr. Lance Nail, dean of SDSU’s Fowler College of Business. “She has been a pioneer in the area of international entrepreneurship, by becoming an early researcher in the field and by innovating new teaching methods before there was even a textbook dedicated to the subject. She has unselfishly given her time and talent for the betterment of the college, while always maintaining her congeniality and professionalism to her colleagues, staff and students. “

Musteen has served as a professor of management at the Fowler College of Business since 2006, coming to SDSU after earning her Ph.D. at the University of Kansas.
