Dr. Gabriel Gonzalez

Gabriel Gonzalez - marketing

Dr. Gabriel Gonzalez joins SDSU this year after teaching four years at the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona where he was twice recognized as an outstanding faculty member.

His areas of specialization include customer relationship management, sales management, and social networks and marketing.

Dr. Gonzales will be teaching Selling Strategy and Practices and Sales Management courses to undergraduates this fall.


Dr. Valerie Grissom

Valerie Grissom - international business/management

After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in information decision systems from SDSU in 1998, Dr. Valerie Grissom has returned to her Aztec roots.

Prior to earning her Ph.D. at the University of Hawaii in Manoa in 2012, Dr. Grissom founded two businesses and worked as a consultant at Accenture. She came to SDSU from San Francisco State where she taught in the department of international business.

This fall, Dr. Grissom will be teaching six sections of Foundations of Business in a Global Environment (BA310), a required course for SDSU business undergraduates.


Dr. Xialu (Charlotte) Liu

Xialu (Charlotte) Liu - management information systems

Dr. Xialu (Charlotte) Liu is new to SDSU this year after having finished her Ph.D. in statistics at Rutgers University in 2015.

Even though she is new to teaching, Dr. Liu is a seasoned researcher with several papers having been published in academic journals. In 2014, she was awarded a Deming Student Scholar Award by the American Statistical Association for “outstanding research achievement.”

She will teach two sections of Statistical Analysis (BA623) to graduate students during the fall semester.


Dr. Taekjin Shin

Taekjin Shin - management

UC Berkeley graduate, Dr. Taekjin Shin, joins SDSU’s management department after working six years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Shin specializes in the fields of strategic management, organizational sociology, corporate governance and executive compensation.

During the fall of 2015, Dr. Shin will be teaching two sections of Business Ethics and Corporate Governance (MGT 444).

Dr. Timothy Trombley

Timothy Trombley - finance

Upon earning his Ph.D. from Purdue University in the spring 0f 2015, Dr. Timothy Trombley has joined SDSU’s College of Business Administration as the newest member of the finance department.

He specializes in research relating to venture capital, corporate governance, real estate, economic history, and banking systems.  Prior to earning his Ph.D., he worked as a financial analyst for a large private Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT).

Dr. Trombley will be teaching intermediate finance and international business finance to undergraduate students in the fall semester of 2015.


Dr. Jeff Wang

Jeff Wang - accounting

Dr. Jeff Wang joins SDSU’s Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy after earning his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014. During his Ph.D. studies, Dr. Wang’s co-authored research was published in the Journal of Accounting Research, one of the top academic journals in the field.

Dr. Wang spent the past year as an entrepreneur by co-founding a medical device company. He was also awarded his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter in July, 2015.

This fall, he will be teaching three sections of Intermediate Accounting (ACCTG331) to undergraduates.
