SDSU’s Guardian Scholar Program
The SDSU Guardian Scholars Program helps students exiting foster care, those who are wards of the court and under legal guardianship, as well as unaccompanied homeless youth achieve their dream of graduating from college. Program mentors help students with the transition to adulthood and college life and the program also provides support through scholarships and on-campus housing. In spring 2015, 20 Guardian Scholars graduated from San Diego State University, the program's largest-ever graduating class.
Travis Doderlein and Yosef Richardson are business students currently involved in the Guardian Scholars program. They came into the foster care system through different routes, but both have offered to share their amazing stories of courage, hard work and perseverance.
