SDSU’s Beta Alpha Psi Students Continue Their Winning Streak!
The financial literacy team at SDSU’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter captured first place in the Financial Literacy category of the Best Practices competition at the organization’s Western Regional meeting in Las Vegas held February 20 – 21, 2015. The team was comprised of Masters of Science in Accountancy student, Shannon Biggs, and accounting seniors, Savana Kalfayan and Ernesto Nunez. They will now complete with the top teams from around the U.S. during the Beta Alpha Psi National Meeting held from August 6 – 8 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
It will be the second time that Kalfayan will compete in the National Meeting. As a junior, her team competed in the leadership category of the Best Practices competition which earned a second place finish against other top Beta Alpha Psi teams in 2014.
This year’s regional meeting also saw two other SDSU student teams, representing international impact and effective chapter operations, taking home runners-up honors in the same category.
Beta Alpha Psi is an international university honors organization for accounting and finance students with over 300 chapters throughout the globe. The SDSU chapter has been recognized nationally as a “superior” chapter for over 25 years.
SDSU accounting professor, Dr. Brett Kawada, serves as the organization’s faculty advisor.
