John Putman earned his B.A. in history at San Diego State University and received his Ph. D. from the University of California, San Diego in 2000. He has served as director of SDSU’s international business program since 2015. Dr. Putman is a professor of history specializing in the history of the modern American West. He is the author of two books, Boosting a New West: Pacific Coast Expositions, 1905-1915 (2020) and Class and Gender Politics in Progressive Era Seattle (2008). He teaches courses in modern United States history, the American West, and Star Trek.
